Bridge Dermpath is a physician-owned practice that specializes in the field of dermatopathology. Our state-of-the-art laboratory is located in Tarrytown, NY. This position is full-time with an overnight work schedule of Monday-Friday, from 10:00 PM until 6:30 AM, 40 hours per week.
Job Responsibilities:
· Completes lab QC logs in a timely manner
· Records all information accurately, neatly, and legibly on appropriate forms
· Ensures staining solution levels are within the established range
· Changes/rotates staining solutions and rotates reagents/supplies according to dates received and/or expiration dates
· Assembles slides according to case number in slide tray with corresponding requisition slip
· Distributes glass slides to pathologists
· Handles and disposes chemical wastes with appropriate PPE
· Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of lab technician stations, slide stainer, & coverslippers
· Ensures that surfaces of tissue processors are free of paraffin after removing baskets at the end of tissue processing
· Cleans exterior of laboratory equipment and work areas using appropriate cleaning solutions
· Pulls specimen(s) from specimen storage room as asked by pathologist or technical staff
· Pulls specimens from storage shelves in preparation for tissue discard
· Ensures specimens are appropriately filed in storage room
· Receives and delivers shipments to their respective areas
· Conducts routine inventory and item rotation; maintains all inventory in POS
· Keeps storage areas free of clutters
· Immediate notification of existing and/or potential problems to the proper authority
· Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Work Experience/Physical Requirements:
· 1+ years of Laboratory experience preferred
· Must be able to manage multiple tasks at once
· Proven ability to work in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining the highest levels of accuracy
· Must have excellent verbal, writing, and reading comprehension of English language
· Must have excellent attention to detail
· Ability to lift 50+ lbs
· Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
· Ability to properly handle various hazardous chemicals
