Duties
- Oversee daily administrative operations within the dental clinic, including appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and billing processes.
- Coordinate with dental providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and optimal utilization of clinic resources.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or eClinicalWorks to maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist patients with insurance verification, financial counseling, and payment processing while explaining treatment plans clearly.
- Supervise office staff and medical administrative support personnel to promote a collaborative team environment.
- Monitor clinic budgets, perform fiscal management tasks including budgeting and financial management to optimize practice profitability.
- Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations such as JCAHO standards, HIPAA privacy rules, and managed care protocols.
- Facilitate communication between patients, providers, insurance companies, and external healthcare entities to streamline care delivery.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office management within a dental or healthcare setting; familiarity with dental clinic workflows highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic or eClinicalWorks; ability to navigate complex software efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Effective supervisory skills to lead office staff and foster a positive team atmosphere.
- Deep understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare compliance standards including HIPAA.
- Experience in fiscal management including budgeting, financial analysis, and revenue cycle management.
- Strong communication skills for patient interactions, staff coordination, and external stakeholder engagement.
