The Phillips Academy, a 6th-12th grade non-public school for students in special education, has an opening for a teaching assistant position for a highly motivated person, who enjoys working with a diverse, challenging, and delightful group of young people.
The TA’s duties include, but are not limited to, teaching small groups in math, reading, science and social studies and teaching or assisting in an elective class. There are generally 8-12 students in the homeroom classroom with one lead teacher and 1 to 2 TA’s. We especially need someone who is flexible and can work with both middle and high school students. We are looking for someone who is comfortable leading a small group under the supervision of a credentialed teacher and is particularly skilled in math and science.
If you would enjoy working with an engaging group of youngsters, enjoy both classroom and community based teaching, and are a team player, please indicate your interest in the position via e-mail to Dr. Esther Cohen. Previous experience with students in special education and some post-secondary education would be advantageous. The students are really sweet, kind, fun, and almost always happy to see their teachers. They really make the job rewarding. Please see our website for more information about our program: www.thephillipsacademy.org.
We offer a competitive salary for this position and excellent benefits.
