About the Position
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS) is looking for experienced emergency veterinary technicians to join our Emergency and Critical Care nursing team in Buzzards Bay.
Our ECC department sees a wide range of emergency and critical cases, from straightforward emergencies to patients requiring intensive monitoring, transfusions, anesthesia, emergency surgery, and advanced supportive care. Our technicians are actively involved in patient care and work closely with emergency doctors, residents, interns, and specialty teams.
This is a good fit for a technician who enjoys emergency medicine, wants to continue developing their clinical skills, and appreciates working as part of a team.
What You'll Do
As an ECC Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Emergency triage and patient assessment
- Obtaining and monitoring vitals
- Stabilizing critically ill and injured patients
- Intensive care nursing and frequent patient reassessment
- Medication and fluid administration
- Pain management
- Blood product administration and transfusion monitoring
- ECG, blood pressure, oxygenation, and other advanced monitoring
Our technicians are expected to recognize changes in a patient's condition, communicate concerns, and work with the doctor and nursing team to determine the next steps.
What We're Looking For
- CVT, LVT, or RVT credential, or eligibility to obtain credentialing within 6 months
- Minimum 2 years of emergency or ECC experience
- Strong technical and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple patients and changing needs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Calm and professional approach during stressful situations
- Compassionate approach with clients and their pets
VTS (ECC), RECOVER certification, anesthesia experience, ventilator experience, and blood-bank experience are all welcome, but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- $22–$32/hour, based on experience, expertise, and internal equity
- Most new hires can expect an offer within the minimum to midpoint of the posted pay range, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule
- Full-time overnight: 4 shifts on / 3 days off
- The position includes weekend and holiday rotation.
- As emergency services expand in Dennis, some shifts will be scheduled at the Dennis location. The amount of time spent at each location may change as Dennis increases its emergency coverage.
- Part-time opportunities may also be available.

Emergency medicine can be unpredictable, so having a good team around you matters.
Our ECC nursing team works closely with emergency clinicians, residents, interns, veterinary assistants, and specialty departments. We have experienced technicians who enjoy teaching, as well as opportunities to learn new skills and develop areas of interest.
We also recognize that emergency veterinary medicine can be difficult work. CCVS provides access to an Employee Assistance Program and an on-site Veterinary Social Worker for staff support.

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is an emergency and specialty referral hospital serving Cape Cod and the Islands. Our hospital includes more than 22 specialists across 8 specialties, along with emergency clinicians, residents, interns, and a large veterinary nursing team.
We see a broad range of cases and have the equipment and support to manage patients requiring advanced emergency and critical care, including in-house laboratory testing, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, blood products, ventilators, and continuous patient monitoring.
Our current expansion will bring 10,000 square feet of clinical space. It will include three new services (Neuro, Ophtho, and Dentistry) and new medical tools, including MRI and fluoroscopy
