AmeriCorps is a paid service program that allows individuals to provide various local non-profit and state-based organizations with necessary services and support. These individual non-profits and organizations are referred to as "Host Sites". Each year, AmeriCorps leverages thousands of service members to complete important projects, provide support to populations in need, and make a positive impact on communities across the country. AmeriCorps is a federally funded program overseen by state agencies and administered by state and local nonprofits, schools, and non-political community organizations.
In Hastings there are member positions at the YWCA Zone Afterschool Program, Hastings Literacy Program, Maryland Living Center, Adams County Diversion, MentoringWorks and Prairie Loft. These non-profits provide enriching service opportunities to members. All sites are located in Hastings, NE.
We are hiring members for Maryland Living Center. Members will identify the needs of residents in order to better provide services to address those needs, provide life and basic skill training and lessons, & facilitate on-site mentoring/role modeling. MLC members are responsible for interaction with the residents living at the facility, and must be a mentor and a good role model. They will also be responsible for supporting residents in occupational and educational interests and needs. Member must assist with resident support, tracking and following up on those residents that have taken the Daniel Memorial Assessment to assist in deficit areas of independent living skills. In addition, Member must interact well with others. Member must be able to assist youth in finding additional support in the community if needed for successful employment and/or education.
YWCA Adams County is seeking to hire a member of the Hastings, NE community.
Qualifications:
- Be 17 years of age or older.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to follow instructions, use proper safety equipment (e.g., safety glasses), and use common sense.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Pay: Up to $6,975.00 per year
