Rocky Mountain Truck Centers is looking for a dependable, safety-focused Wrecker Operator to join our Cheyenne team. If you are experienced in towing, recovery, roadside assistance, or heavy-duty truck work and want a role where your effort directly impacts your income, we want to hear from you.
This is a commission-based position with strong earning potential for a motivated operator. You will be part of a fast-moving roadside assistance and wrecker team that supports commercial drivers, fleets, and customers when they need help most.
What You’ll Earn
- Commission range of 20%–30% based on experience
- Strong earning opportunity for operators who are responsive, reliable, and ready to run calls
- Work with an established truck center and roadside assistance operation
What You’ll Do
- Respond to towing, recovery, and roadside assistance calls as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Safely operate wrecker and recovery equipment in roadside, traffic, and all-weather conditions
- Perform vehicle hookups, winching, recovery, transport, and securement procedures
- Assist commercial trucks, fleets, and drivers with professional roadside support
- Communicate clearly with dispatch, customers, law enforcement, and team members
- Document each call accurately, including photos, notes, signatures, and required service details
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and help keep equipment clean, safe, and ready
- Follow company safety procedures, DOT requirements, and customer service standards
Required Qualifications
- Active and valid CDL-A required
- Clean and insurable driving record required
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Must be able to maintain a clean drug screening status and comply with applicable DOT/random testing requirements
- Ability to work a 24/7 on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and urgent callouts
- Ability to work safely around traffic, disabled vehicles, heavy equipment, and changing weather conditions
- Reliable, self-motivated, professional, and customer-focused
Preferred Experience
- Prior wrecker, towing, recovery, roadside assistance, or commercial truck experience preferred
- Diesel mechanic experience is a plus, but not required
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks, driveline/axle procedures, vehicle securement, or recovery work is helpful
Physical & Work Requirements
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, secure equipment, and perform physical roadside work as needed
- Ability to respond quickly and professionally while on call
- Must follow all safety procedures and maintain a safety-first mindset
