Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chimney Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, repairing, and restoring chimneys and related masonry structures to ensure safety, efficiency, and longevity. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of chimneys, fireplaces, and venting systems using technical drawings and schematics to identify issues or potential hazards.
- Perform chimney cleaning, including removing soot, creosote buildup, and debris using specialized hand tools and power tools.
- Repair or replace damaged bricks, stones, mortar joints, flue liners, and other masonry components utilizing skills in bricklaying, stone masonry, and mortar work.
- Install new chimney components or rebuild existing structures following blueprints and construction plans with precision.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols during all phases of work, including scaffold building, heavy equipment operation, and working at heights on masonry scaffolds.
- Interpret technical drawings and schematics to ensure accurate installation or repair according to specifications.
- Assist with restoration projects involving stucco, plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, or metal stud framing as needed for comprehensive chimney maintenance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating, concrete finishing, rebar installation, or masonry work with a focus on chimney or fireplace systems.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation of construction plans and schematic diagrams.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and building material installation techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to perform masonry tasks such as bricklaying, stone masonry, concrete forming, and mortar work efficiently.
- Experience with construction site safety procedures and adherence to OSHA standards or equivalent safety protocols.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and apply schematics during installation or repair processes.
- Prior experience in renovation projects involving framing carpentry or restoration work is preferred.
