PanTerra Energy is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fleet Manager/Mechanic , who is a self starter, to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency of our diverse fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with fleet management responsibilities, ensuring all equipment operates safely, reliably, and at peak performance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in heavy machinery, automotive diagnostics, and vehicle maintenance, along with excellent organizational skills to coordinate repairs and inspections across our fleet. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of technicians while maintaining a high standard of safety and operational excellence.
Duties
- Manage daily operations of the fleet, including scheduling maintenance, repairs, and inspections for trucks, trailers, construction equipment, and farm machinery
- Perform diagnostic assessments using schematics and electrical testing tools to identify mechanical or electrical issues
- Conduct repairs on a wide range of equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and heavy trucks
- Oversee vehicle systems such as transmissions, hydraulics, suspension, air brakes, and HVAC systems to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Lead fabrication projects or modifications on equipment as needed to enhance performance or safety features
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts inventory, and service histories
- Supervise and mentor technicians in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other repair techniques
- Ensure that all equipment is DOT compliant and up to code.
Requirements
- Proven experience in heavy equipment operation and automotive repair within a dealership or industrial environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge across multiple systems including diesel engines, transmissions, suspensions, brakes, and electrical systems
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting electrical issues on automotive and industrial equipment
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering for equipment repair or customization
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate power tools efficiently
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to air brake systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and tire service procedures
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members and clients
- Certifications in diesel mechanics, heavy truck repair, or related fields are highly desirable
- Dealership experience or background working with Caterpillar machinery or similar brands is preferred
- CDL Class A is Preferred
- Work will be at our main shop; however, there may be travel to different job sites as well.
- This position is 3 weeks on and 1 week off.
