Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Open Dental, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and managing medical documentation and records
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Monitor vital signs of patients when necessary and assist with pediatric dentistry procedures in a caring, professional manner
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment, with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Open Dental
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control expertise
- Ability to operate dental x-ray equipment safely and effectively; experience with oral surgery or endodontics is desirable
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and clinical staff
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and the ability to work compassionately with children is preferred
- Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training; familiarity with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies is essential
