NatureMed’s ideal HRG candidate is service-oriented and able to motivate team members to complete HR tasks, implement policy, and coach through change initiatives. The HRG belongs to the corporate HR team and supports team members in multiple locations through the employee’s life cycle (from recruitment to post-termination).
Position Summary
The Human Resource Generalist (HRG) provides general Human Resources support consistent with NatureMed’s policies and practices. HRGs support multiple locations. The HRG carries out HR activities and initiatives for assigned locations, in compliance with applicable laws and consistent with NatureMed’s vision.
The HRG ensures all employees are treated fairly and equitably, and current policies are implemented consistently across locations. The HRG maintains accurate and up to date employee files and employment related information.
The HRG reports to the HR Director, is a member of the multi-state HR team, provides guidance and support to team members in their assigned locations.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
The HRG supports team members by completing HR activities and tasks that ensure employees are recruited, hired, trained, managed, and terminated in compliance with NatureMed policy and applicable laws and regulations. The HRG:
Human Resources support
- Provides general Human Resources support to the assigned NatureMed teams, consistent with NatureMed’s policies, practices, and overall HR strategy.
- Contributes to and aligns with the NatureMed Human Resources team.
- Updates hiring, term, enrollment and staffing need metrics.
- Completes tasks as assigned to HR team members.
- Share information and participate in discussions with the HR team.
- Consistently implement current policy and practice.
- Promotes a positive company culture.
Talent Acquisition
- Posts open positions for assigned NatureMed teams, consistent with NM standard templates.
- Facilitates hiring qualified candidates into open positions, in a timely manner.
- Continuously and actively recruits talent.
- Assists with screening candidates, using current tools (CI) and standards, as needed.
- Supports managers through the interview and hiring process.
- Extends offers and coordinates pre-hiring activities (i.e., Facility Agent license, fingerprinting, and background checks).
- Onboards newly hired employees, establishes employee file in HMIS and ensures employees complete all onboarding checklists, forms, and policy acknowledgements.
- Completes HR’s onboarding checklist for each new hire to ensure new employees have access to the communication, learning, compliance, and other work-related systems.
- Verifies employment eligibility (I-9).
- Invites new hires to enroll in benefits, if eligible.
- Sends a 30-day follow-up survey and resolves any outstanding concerns with newly hired employees.
- Ensures new hires receive training and support, appropriate to their position.
Talent Management
- Ensures employee data files are accurate, complete, and up to date in all HR systems (HMIS, Benefit, LMS, etc.)
- Uploads all employment documents to the employee’s file.
- Compiles timecards and gathers approvals from managers to support bi-weekly payroll.
- Audits timecards for Paid Sick Time, Paid Time Off, Unpaid, FMLA, and other time off.
- Review timecards for correct charge codes (job/location).
- Periodically audits employee data to ensure accuracy.
- Supports managers with progressive discipline process.
- Assists with written documentation.
- Advises managers on standard policy matters.
- Coordinates resolution of non-typical HR matters with HRD, such as unemployment claim responses, workplace injury reporting and Workers Compensation claims; ADA accommodations, investigations, etc.
- Consistently administers the performance management process.
- Motivates managers to complete evaluations in a timely manner.
- Provides input including training completion, compliance, and other data collection (i.e., surveys).
- Uses approved pay rates to guide merit increases, submits requests to the department director and HRD for consideration and approval.
- Supports managers through the termination process.
- Compiles involuntary termination documentation.
- Prepares recommendation to terminate employment for Director approval (HR and department’s Director).
- Completes HRs off boarding checklist for each terminated employee to ensure former employees no longer have access to the NatureMed systems
- Supports terminated employees.
- Communicates post-employment expectations to former employees.
- Sends service letters to former employees.
- Responds to requests for information from former employees.
- Responds to verifications of employment (VOE), income verifications, and any other information requested with the consent of the employee.
Benefit Management
- Maintains accurate employee files in the benefit management system.
- Facilitates benefit enrollment for employees, newly hired and during open enrollment.
- Periodically audits benefit management files to ensure data is accurate and up to date.
- Refers any benefit related questions to HRD.
Recognition Programs
- Assists with employee engagement activities.
- Implements employee recognition and reward systems.
- Coordinates employee celebrations, parties, and team-building events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar related field of study, or commensurate experience.
- Three (3) years or more of Human Resource experience; or a minimum of two (2) years serving in an HRG capacity.
- Experience using Human Management Information System (HMIS), Applicant Tracking System (ATS), Learning Management System (LMS), benefits and/or payroll systems.
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment-related laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn and become proficient with a variety of software applications, portals, and other tools.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Upholds confidentiality, operates with integrity, and practices with a high standard of ethics.
Preferred:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google platform, or similar software, preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
- Knowledge of cannabis and regulation is not required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
The Human Resources Generalist is required to sit or stand at a desk for long periods of time, working on a computer, performing repetitive motion. This position must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds; and frequently walk, kneel, and stand. This position requires frequent driving, entering and exiting a vehicle, and sitting for long periods of time.
Travel Requirements:
The Human Resources Generalist is required to regularly travel to locations within the state, and occasionally travel out of state. This position may spend up to 35% of their time traveling to locations away from their assigned office.
