POSITION: Rental & Climbing Wall Attendant
DEPARTMENT: Activities / Adventure Camp
STATUS: Summer Seasonal / Full-Time or Part-Time

UNDER THE DIRECTION OF: Adventure Camp Manager, Adventures Supervisor/Manager, or Director of Activities
LOCATION: Talisker Club Adventure Camp, Moondance
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Rental & Climbing Wall Attendant supports daily operations at Talisker Club’s Adventure Camp by providing exceptional member service across the climbing wall, mountain bike rentals, lakeside rentals, swim beach, and general Adventure Camp activity areas. This role assists with recreation equipment check-out and check-in, participant orientation, activity-area safety, towel and amenity stocking, snack and beverage support, and the upkeep of a clean, organized, and welcoming outdoor environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with families, has a passion for outdoor recreation, and takes pride in delivering polished, attentive service in a private club setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Welcome members and guests with warm, professional, and attentive service consistent with Talisker Club standards.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of Talisker Club amenities, programs, events, and recreational offerings to confidently answer member questions, provide recommendations, and enhance the overall member experience.
- Anticipate member needs and proactively provide assistance to create exceptional and personalized experiences.
- Assist with check-out, check-in, fitting, inspection, cleaning, and organization of Adventure Camp rental equipment.
- Provide basic instruction on proper equipment use and help members select appropriate equipment based on activity, size, skill level, and conditions.
- Support climbing wall operations, including participant orientation, harness and helmet fitting, belay support where appropriately trained, and monitoring safe climbing practices.
- Perform opening, closing, and ongoing safety checks of rental areas, climbing equipment, wall features, and surrounding activity spaces.
- Maintain accurate rental records, waivers, reservations, and equipment logs as directed.
- Monitor activity areas to promote safe, respectful, and enjoyable use by members and guests of all ages.
- Communicate equipment damage, safety concerns, supply needs, or operational issues promptly to a supervisor.
- Assist with setup, breakdown, cleaning, and general upkeep of Adventure Camp facilities, docks, activity areas, and storage spaces.
- Follow established Lost & Found procedures for member belongings.
- Support other Adventure Camp activities and events as needed, including lakefront recreation, family programming, and outdoor experiences.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents, injuries, weather changes, or emergency situations according to established procedures.
- Represent Talisker Club as a knowledgeable, courteous ambassador for outdoor recreation, family fun, and member engagement.
- Other duties as assigned.
ACTIVITY-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Opening Procedures
- Open Adventure Camp facilities and activity areas according to established operating procedures.
- Conduct opening inspections of rental equipment, climbing wall systems, waterfront equipment, communication devices, first aid supplies, and activity spaces.
- Stage rental equipment, towels, member amenities, snacks, beverages, and activity areas for daily operations.
- Maintain radio communication with supervisors and team members and promptly respond to operational or emergency communications.
Climbing Wall Operations
- Assist with daily climbing wall setup and participant orientation.
- Fit harnesses, helmets, and climbing equipment according to established procedures.
- Support belay operations, spotting, and participant coaching only when trained and authorized.
- Monitor climbers and spectators to ensure compliance with climbing wall rules and operating procedures.
Water Sports Rentals and Swim Beach Support
- Assist members and guests with the rental and use of paddleboards, paddle boats, and other approved waterfront equipment.
- Provide orientation on launching, landing, equipment use, return procedures, and waterfront expectations.
- Fit and distribute life jackets and other required safety equipment appropriate to the activity.
- Monitor waterfront activity and communicate changing weather, wind, water conditions, or operational concerns to supervisors.
- Assist with temporary activity closures or operational adjustments as directed.
Mountain Bike Rentals and Talisker Club Trail Knowledge
- Assist with bike rentals, sizing, helmet fitting, and pre-ride preparation.
- Maintain working knowledge of Talisker Club's trail system, including trail difficulty, access points, etiquette, and current conditions.
- Provide members with trail recommendations and route guidance appropriate to their ability level.
- Promote responsible trail use and communicate trail conditions, maintenance concerns, safety issues, and member feedback to supervisors.
Member Amenities & Facility Presentation
- Maintain inventory and availability of towels, life jackets, helmets, paddles, snacks, beverages, and other member amenities.
- Restock supplies throughout the day and communicate inventory shortages or replacement needs to supervisors.
Closing Procedures
- Complete end-of-day equipment and activity area checks.
- Complete required rental documentation, equipment logs, waivers, and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Restore facilities, secure equipment and activity areas, and prepare operations for the following day.
- Complete required closing checklists and communicate operational, safety, or maintenance concerns before departure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in outdoor recreation, rentals, climbing wall operations, guest service, hospitality, summer camp, or private club environments preferred.
- Comfortable working with children, families, and guests of varying ages and ability levels.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Basic knowledge of recreation equipment care, safe handling, and member instruction preferred.
- Familiarity with mountain biking, trail etiquette, bike sizing, helmets, or basic bike handling preferred.
- Comfortable working around lakeside recreation, swim beach environments, paddle craft, and personal flotation equipment.
- Climbing wall, belay, or challenge course experience preferred; willingness to complete required training is essential.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain prior to or shortly after hire.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, service-minded approach.
- Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to delivering exceptional member service.
- Ability to follow safety procedures, complete checklists, and remain attentive in a busy outdoor environment.
- Ability to learn and communicate Talisker Club trail information, rental procedures, activity rules, and daily operating updates clearly and accurately.
- Reliable, punctual, team-oriented, and willing to assist wherever needed.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts during the operating season.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, carry, climb and move equipment throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely swim and work in and around waterfront environments.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift, stage, carry, and reposition bikes, paddleboards, paddle boats, PFD’s, towels, coolers, snacks, drinks, and other recreation supplies with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing mountain weather conditions, including sun, wind, rain, heat, and cool temperatures.
- Ability to work around water, docks, uneven terrain, recreation equipment, and climbing wall activity areas.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and positive demeanor while working in a highly visible member-facing role.
