We're Hiring: Crew Chiefs & Instrument Persons — Wyoming & Colorado
Our growing surveying company is looking for skilled Crew Chiefs and Instrument Persons — both crews and individuals — to service active contracts across Wyoming and Colorado. If you're a field professional who takes pride in accuracy, efficiency, and safety, we want to hear from you!
Position: Crew Chief / Instrument Person Work Type: Project-Based / Full-Time (depending on fit) Start Date: Immediate
Required Experience
We're specifically looking for candidates with a strong hands-on background in:
- Construction staking for civil infrastructure and energy development projects
- Civil project workflows and field operations
- Trimble GPS equipment, data collectors, and total stations
- Grade calculations and independent field data management
- Coordination with project managers and office staff
Instrument Person — Minimum 1 year of civil project experience required. Must be proficient in construction staking on civil and energy development projects with strong working knowledge of Trimble GPS, data collectors, and total stations.
Crew Chief — Minimum 5 years of experience as a Civil Survey Crew Chief. Must be capable of leading field crews, managing field data, and executing projects with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead or support field survey crews performing construction staking across civil and energy development projects
- Maintain clear documentation and communication with project managers and office staff
- Calculate grades, manage field data, and ensure accurate, timely project execution
- Ensure field safety, equipment care, and compliance with industry standards
- Deliver precise, reliable results on schedule
Requirements
- Proven field experience in civil survey (1+ years for IP, 5+ years for Crew Chief)
- Strong understanding of survey methodologies, construction workflows, and best practices
- Proficiency with Trimble GPS, data collectors, and total stations
- Ability to work independently, professionally, and safely
- Willing to travel within Wyoming and Colorado as required
