Job Summary
We are seeking highly organized, detail-oriented, and compassionate immigration paralegals (bilingual in English/Spanish) to support our EOIR/Immigration Court team with individual hearing preparation. Paralegals will help prepare and manage a high volume of individual hearing cases for immigration clients in the United States. Solid experience with EOIR individual hearing preparation is required.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assemble EOIR immigration application forms, along with required evidence, via Adobe.
- Meet with clients (via phone and video) to gather case information and prepare documents.
- Draft legal documents and affidavits.
- Manage a voluminous caseload for clients and meet priorities set by case manager.
- Update practice management software with all client information and case progress.
- Translation of documents from Spanish to English.
- Interpret for appointments from Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
- Update case management software (Clio) in real time with all client information and case progress; complete all assigned Clio tasks in a timely manner.
- Time track hours worked in accordance with the firm's time tracking policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (conversing, reading, and writing).
- Undergraduate degree or paralegal certificate or equivalent experience highly preferred but not required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with EOIR individual hearings required.
- Solid work history.
- Passion to help underserved populations and to help people from all walks of life and strong interest in an immigration-based practice.
- Microsoft Word and Excel: intermediate/advanced proficiency.
- Adobe PDF experience preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service.
- Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to changing circumstances.
