Job Description: Audio/Music Production Instructor, Asheville, NC
We are seeking an energetic and passionate Music Production Instructor to teach at risk middle and high school students the art of music production using a digital audio workstation (DAW). As an instructor, you’ll work with students on projects involving artists, commercials, games, Foley, and ADR.

- Candidates are required to live either in the county or within 30 miles of the city for the job posting.
Class Size and Assistance
- Classes will range from 3 to 15 students (13-18 yrs old)
- An assistant will be assigned to larger classes
Physical Requirements
- Lifting 35 lbs.
- Pushing tables and chairs into position
- Sitting and standing
- Setup and take down of portable studio equipment.
Job Type
- Part-Time- Tuesday's 8 hours a week. 12:00pm - 8:00pm
- Additional work hours outside class time.
Compensation
Experience Level
- Professional: Minimum 4 years or more of professional music production experience
Bilingual
Demo/Portfolio/Samples
- MP3s of professional production projects you have completed for artist(s), band(s), and/or professional commercial audio projects
Location
- Classes held at : University of North Carolina.
Relocation
- No relocation; only local candidates should apply.
- Candidates are required to live either in the county or within 30 miles of the job location.
- All candidates must live in the state of North Carolina.
Skills & Software Knowledge
- Required: Proficiency in music production and knowledge of Studio One, Reason, Logic Pro, and Pro Tools. Windows, Apple, Android, and iOS systems.
- Pluses: Proficiency in Video production, including Basic video production, Lighting, and storytelling, is a plus.
Required Equipment
- Must own a laptop (Windows or Mac)
Key QualificationsOur ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Advanced proficiency with DAWs
- Demonstrated advanced production experience based on commercial demos
- Proficient in music theory and piano enough to compose and arrange professional music
- Understands all aspects of the recording and music production process and is able to easily communicate with others
- Organized, exceptionally detail-oriented, focused, punctual, responsible, and reliable
- Demonstrated visual arts skills (portfolio review will be part of the interview process)
- Experience teaching or working with kids is preferred (but not required)
- An authentic “can do!” personality, as well as a natural tendency to be proactive and take initiative
