Moss + Ivy Coffee Co. is a locally owned coffee shop in Oxford, NC, dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming, community‑focused environment. In addition to our brick‑and‑mortar shop, we operate a fully equipped coffee trailer that serves different communities and events throughout the area. We are a Christian‑based, customer‑focused business that strives to make every guest feel valued, welcomed, and part of our community.
Our journey began with the launch of our coffee trailer in June 2024, followed by the opening of our shop in January 2025. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for team members who want to grow with us.
Position Summary
Baristas prepare and serve coffee, espresso, tea, and specialty beverages while maintaining a clean, organized workspace. This role includes opening and/or closing duties, customer service, and supporting daily shop operations.
Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to Moss + Ivy standards
- Operate the POS system to take orders, process payments, and handle cash accurately
- Manage transactions with attention to detail, ensuring proper cash handling and sales recording
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace, following all food safety and cleanliness guidelines
- Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions, and provide warm, friendly, and professional service
- Restock cups, lids, syrups, milk, and other supplies; keep workstations organized and guest‑ready
- Support opening or closing duties, including equipment setup/shutdown, cleaning, and restocking
- Follow all food handling procedures and uphold quality and safety standards throughout service
Skills
- Previous barista or coffee experience preferred, but not required
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with guests
- Basic math skills for handling cash, making change, and completing POS transactions
- Effective time‑management skills to stay organized during busy periods
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and attention to detail
- Reliability, professionalism, and a positive attitude that contributes to a welcoming team environment
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
