Newton Central Appraisal District is seeking a Registered Professional Appraiser / Field Appraiser to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting and analyzing property information, conducting field inspections, and developing accurate and timely real property valuations in accordance with applicable appraisal standards and district procedures.

Job Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site property inspections and collect accurate property data, including measurements, photographs, and detailed notes.
- Research and analyze real estate market trends, property conditions, and other relevant information to determine property values.
- Apply sound appraisal principles, financial concepts, and mathematical calculations to develop accurate property valuations.
- Utilize multiple appraisal software programs and computer systems in the appraisal process.
- Pull, review, read, and process reports and property records.
- Maintain accurate and organized property information and documentation.
- Research property characteristics and market data to support accurate valuations.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with taxpayers, property owners, co-workers, and other members of the public.
- Perform other duties related to property appraisal and district operations as assigned.
Required Skills & Preferred Experience
- Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and related computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with data collection, data analysis, spreadsheets, and queries preferred.
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to develop accurate property valuations based on market trends, property characteristics, and property conditions.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn and effectively utilize appraisal software and technology.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with co-workers and the public.
- Registered Professional Appraiser (RPA) certification (preferred) or ability too obtain
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Must be a Texas Resident
- Must possess a valid driver's license, have a reliable vehicle, and provide proof of current liability insurance coverage.
- Must be willing to travel out of town for required training.
- Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in extreme heat and cold. Approximately three-quarters of this position will involve working outside.
- Must be able to walk properties, take measurements, collect field data, and perform other physical duties associated with property inspections.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting Salary: $30,000 per year, or commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
