Job Title: Bus Washer
Job Brief:
To clean and maintain the appearance of school buses to ensure they are safe, presentable, and ready for daily operation. This role involves washing the exterior, cleaning the interior, and reporting any visible damage or maintenance issues.
Qualifications:
· Graduation from standard high school (or equivalent).
· Must have a Kansas Driver’s License.
· Must be able to lift or drag 75 pounds.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
· Must complete CPR/First Aid Course provided by USD 383 and such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
· All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.
Salary:
· $13.00 - $15.00/hr.
· Level 2
· Placement within this range is based on relevant qualifications, including prior experience, education, and applicable certifications (e.g., bachelor's degree, advanced certification, bilingual proficiency, etc.).
Hours Per Day:
· 7:00 am- 4:00 pm
· Average workday = 8 hours.
Terms of Employment:
· 12-month position.
· New employees go through a 45-day introductory period as part of onboarding after which benefits will begin, and leave can be used.
Reports To: Shop Forman.
· Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
Job Responsibilities:
· Wash/detail school buses, activity bus and vans
· Maintain building and lot appearance by keeping the grass mowed, empty all trash cans and pick up loose trash on the property.
· Maintain the outward appearance of school buses by waxing them in summer or as needed.
· Follow work assignments from Shop Foreman and Transportation Director and perform any special duties necessary for efficient operation of the transportation facility.
· Perform light vehicle maintenance.
· Repair torn/ripped seats as needed.
· Install car seats on buses as needed.
· Fuel buses and vans as needed.
· Handle cleaning chemicals, fuel, gasoline, lubricants and oils on a daily basis.
· Substitute as a Bus Monitor as needed
· Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
