Typical Schedule: Approximately 12-15 hours per week according to the needs of the department.
Purpose: Holy Cross College is looking for a Chemistry Laboratory Assistant for its General and Organic Chemistry labs. Under the guidance of the course instructor, the Lab Assistant will set up the laboratory equipment needed for the various lab activities, and prepare the solutions and reagents used during those procedures.
Essential Job Duties:

Preparation and cleaning up of laboratory materials for general and organic chemistry experiments, including chemical solutions, reagents, and lab equipment in a timely manner.

Maintain orderly and clean lab and stockroom environment, including glassware cleaning, waste disposal, and safe storage of chemicals, supplies, and lab equipment.

Manage inventory system of all chemicals and other lab supplies and coordinate timely purchasing of all supplies.

Assist in lab equipment maintenance, safety inspection, calibration, and troubleshooting.

Follow lab safety codes and procedures in all areas of the lab, document safety records, and assist in hazardous wastes disposal.

Effective communication with science faculty regarding the schedule and operation of all lab facilities.

Other duties as directed by the course instructor.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Ability:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry or biochemistry preferred.

Previous experience in a scientific lab preferred.
