Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine orthodontic needs, including evaluating dental and facial structures using advanced medical imaging techniques.
- Develop personalized treatment plans utilizing the latest orthodontic appliances such as braces, aligners, retainers, and other corrective devices.
- Perform orthodontic procedures with precision, ensuring optimal results while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with general dentists and specialists in areas like oral surgery, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain detailed medical documentation and dental records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring accuracy in medical terminology and records management.
- Educate patients on treatment options, oral health maintenance, and post-treatment care to foster understanding and adherence.
- Stay current with advancements in orthodontics by participating in ongoing training and utilizing software such as Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix for efficient practice management.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as an Orthodontist with certification from an accredited dental or orthodontic program.
- Proven experience in dental office settings or clinics specializing in orthodontics or general dentistry.
- Proficiency with dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques essential for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Familiarity with orthodontic tools and appliances as well as general dental procedures including dental extractions and root canal therapy.
- Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy, and dental fabrication processes.
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic or Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages about their treatment plans—especially pediatric patients—and foster a welcoming environment.
- Ability to work efficiently using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize patient comfort and clinical productivity.
