Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Staff Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Dispense prescription medications accurately while ensuring compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws
- Provide comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapies and optimize health outcomes
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and manage medication plans, including pain management and acute care protocols
- Compound medications using aseptic techniques, adhering to USP 797 standards for sterile preparations
- Manage pharmacy inventory efficiently, including stock levels of pharmaceuticals, IV infusions, and compounded medications
- Educate patients on medication usage, potential side effects, immunizations, and health management strategies
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain smooth pharmacy operations and high-quality patient service
- Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance and maintain documentation in Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and EMR systems
- Conduct patient care activities such as medication administration, IV insertion, infusion therapy, and patient communication in accordance with healthcare policies
- Maintain confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive patient information
Qualifications
- Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant state authorities
- Demonstrated experience in clinical pharmacy settings such as hospital or acute care environments
- Critical care experience highly preferred; LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy experience is a plus
- Pharmacy residency or equivalent postgraduate training strongly recommended
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, drug regulation, and medical terminology
- Proficiency with pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and pharmacy information systems (PIS)
- Hands-on experience with compounding medications using aseptic technique and USP 797 standards
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as immunizations or pain management are advantageous
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards including HIPAA and pharmaceutical regulatory policies
- Ability to practice as a pharmacist across diverse settings including community pharmacies or hospital environments
