Take a peek at what our beautiful County has to offer -Indian River CountyPlant Mechanic: The Plant Mechanic performs mechanical work of a skilled nature in the installation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater treatment equipment and machinery. Maintains logs and records of preventive maintenance and repair work performed, and of supplies and materials requisitioned and consumed. Works in conjunction with the Chief Plant Operator and Plant Operators in the continued operational success of the plants. This position works independently under the general direction of the Wastewater Superintendent.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Repair, troubleshoot, and complete preventive maintenance and emergency repair tasks for pumps, motors, and other wastewater treatment plant equipment.Works closely with Chief Plant Operator in order to determine upcoming maintenance tasks, projects, and concerns.Works closely with Treatment Plant Operators to ensure maintenance and repair needs are met.Assists in the installation and startup of new equipment.Ensures trucks, tools, and equipment are kept clean and ready for use, and the truck is stocked with items needed to perform daily assignments.May be required to work weekends and holidays if needed. May be required to participate in on-call rotation for response to after-hour calls.Maintains detailed records of repair and maintenance tasks.Works with vendors, facility staff, and the Wastewater Superintendent in the process of procuring new equipment and refurbishment of current equipment.
