The vascular technologist performs vascular imaging and mechanical testing on patients as requested by the referring physician. Utilizing duplex and Doppler imaging techniques, the technologist scans the patient and provides preliminary findings to the interpreting physician. The technologist works independently, consulting with the ordering AND interpreting physician when important, unusual, or unexpected findings are encountered. The technologist must have the ability to synthesize varying amounts of data related to the patient’s medical history. The technologist is responsible for the patient’s welfare for the time the patient is in the outpatient facility or for the length of time the inpatient is in the hospital testing area. Works under general supervision to perform duties and responsibilities as outlined for a Staff Vascular Technologist. Adheres to BMC protocol with exception of a physician’s specific request.
