- Schedule: Weekday afternoons/evenings; weekend availability is a plus
- Duration: Start ASAP; available through summer and school year
- Job Type: Contract/1099 / Part-Time
- Pay: $40.00 – $75.00 per hour

Responsibilities:
- Assess the student’s current reading ability and track progress over time
- Prepare and deliver structured, lessons tailored to student's needs
- Provide highly scaffolded, multi-sensory instruction to build phonemic awareness, blending, and sight word recognition
- Travel to the family’s home in Charleston for in-person sessions
- Maintain consistent communication with the family and Thrive support team
- Share written session updates and follow-up strategies with parents
- Build rapport with the student to foster engagement, emotional resilience, and academic confidence
- Adjust instruction based on ongoing informal assessments and observations
- Support executive function development through routines, sequencing, and repetition
- Commit to regular, reliable sessions with consistent follow-through
Ideal Qualifications:
- Orton-Gillingham, Wilson or LETRS certification or equivalent structured literacy training (ideal)
- 2+ years of experience in early reading instruction or intervention
- Strong understanding of dyslexia and related learning differences
- Patient, empathetic, and consistent—especially with young or struggling learners
- Creative in using movement, play, and games to support literacy development
- Skilled at building trust and emotional connection with young children
- Experience developing individualized learning plans and adapting instruction in real-time
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
