The Ultrasonographer II is responsible for assessments, procedures and care for the patient with medical uses of Ultrasonography.

Performs patient assessments, reviews symptoms and explains procedure to performed
-
Provides comfort measures during testing
-
Ensures proper documentation of exam and procedure and maintains accurate patient records
-
Recognizes various pathological states and knows how to alter the exam to make an appropriate diagnosis
-
Reports abnormalities to the physician reading the study as well as the referring physician
-
Ability to set up and operate equipment and transducers appropriately
-
Actively participates in in-service and continuing education programs, maintaining required CEU credits required by ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
-
Works effectively with students and is cooperative in teaching the concepts and skills involved in sonography
-
Demonstrates the ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position

Takes responsibility for inventory and stocking supplies in assigned areas
-
Assists in aspects of patient care including transportation
-
Provides input for equipment and supply decisions
-
Detects, reports to supervisor, and contacts repair person for equipment malfunctions
-
Assumes responsibility for portions of department quality assurance and improvement program
-
Performs all PACs, clerical, scheduling, and filing functions
-
Pursues continuing education
-
Assists other departments within Medical Imaging
Job Requirements
-
Graduate of an accredited School of Medical Sonography
-
Board certification required in two to three areas of specialty which includes but not limited to:
-
Vascular
-
Abdomen
-
OB/GYN
-
Breast
-
Musculoskeletal
-
Annual recertification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers is required (ARDMS)
-
Participation in continuing education programs
-
Good written and oral communication skills
-
Must be CPR certified within three (3) months of hire
-
Requires ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
-
Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to BHS policies
-
On call required with reporting for duty within 30 minutes
-
Reporting Relationship: Clinical Manager/Director of Medical Imaging
-
Must adhere to established health system and Medical Imaging department policies, rules, and regulations
-
Maintains ethical conduct and keeps confidential personal and medical information about patients
