Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings in accordance with HIPAA privacy standards.
- Support medication administration and ensure adherence to care plans developed by healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when required.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning duties in residents’ living areas and common spaces.
- Observe residents closely for signs of distress or health issues such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease, providing appropriate interventions or alerting medical staff promptly.
- Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with regulatory standards such as HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Support residents’ participation in community integration efforts to foster independence and community engagement.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is preferred.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting, manual handling, and assisting with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts.
- Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus.
- Demonstrated patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to support others’ well-being.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed.
