Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary assistants in providing exceptional animal care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with animals, while gaining valuable experience in veterinary medicine and animal handling.
Duties
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Administer medications and injections following veterinary instructions
- Support veterinary staff with laboratory procedures and sample collection
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and medical histories
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas, ensuring aseptic techniques are followed
- Monitor animals post-procedure or surgery for signs of distress or complications
- Support kennel management by cleaning cages, feeding animals, and monitoring their behavior
- Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, and general care of hospitalized animals
- Maintain all necessary patient records
- Be willing to get a VACSP
Skills
- Obtain relevant medical histories in a compassionate manner
- Educate clients on preventative care, diagnostics, treatments and any other hospital services
- IV catheter placement
- Administer injections, vaccinations, medications, treatments and supportive care measures
- Venipuncture for sampling and medicating
- Run in-house lab work
- Obtain diagnostic X-rays
- Anesthesia administration and monitoring
- Surgical assistance as needed
- Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional services at all times
- Effectively perform tasks with AND without direct supervision
- Proactively assess and address client, hospital, and patient needs
- Clean and disinfect kennels, transport carriers, equipment and facility
- Ensure the safety of patients, clients, doctors, and other technicians by using proper restraining techniques with the animals
- Proven kennel experience and animal husbandry skills
- Experience with animal restraint techniques for dogs and cats
- Ability to handle animals safely during procedures such as catheterization or medication administration
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures in a veterinary setting
- Strong animal handling skills with an emphasis on safety for both animals and staff
- Front desk skills including client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic environment is highly desirable
- Must be able to lift 40+ pounds

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
