Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Mold Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating detailed designs and specifications for molds used in manufacturing processes. Your expertise will help streamline production, improve product quality, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Duties
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD models of molds using software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Autodesk Inventor, or Pro/ENGINEER, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product engineers, manufacturing specialists, and quality assurance to optimize mold designs for manufacturability and durability.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, including schematics, assembly instructions, and CAD drawings aligned with ASME codes and standards.
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to ensure precise manufacturing tolerances and quality control.
- Support the design of mechanical systems related to molds, including piping, instrumentation, and assembly components.
Requirements
- Proven experience in mechanical drafting, 2D CAD drafting, and 3D modeling for product design within a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, system design, and mechanical systems integration.
- Knowledge of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), schematics, and CAD documentation standards.
- Familiarity with GD&T standards and ASME codes and standards.
- Experience with PDM (Product Data Management) software for version control and project management.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills; experience with technical writing or documentation is a plus.
- Machining experience or familiarity with manufacturing processes is advantageous.
