BluePearl Pet Hospital in Paramus, NJ is seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight ER/ICU team. Prior veterinary assistant experience required.
Schedule: 3x12 or 4x10s
Pay: $23.60 - $32.80 / hour
Responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant:
Assist with nursing care for hospitalized patients in accordance with hospital standards of care and core values.
Perform physical assessments by accurately obtaining heart rate, pulse rate, capillary refill time (CRT), mucous membrane color, temperature, respiratory rate, and respiratory effort.
Understand the classification of commonly used medications, recognize associated side effects, and appropriately monitor therapeutic responses.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and durations under the direction of a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT).
Perform diagnostic procedures, including digital radiography and laboratory sample collection and processing.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R. CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in assigned CPR roles as directed by the attending clinician or supervisor.
Engage with clients by assisting with patient triage, reviewing estimates, and providing discharge instructions.
Stock, clean, and maintain the Emergency, ICU, and other designated hospital areas to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient patient care environment.
