Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Department Supervisor and in cooperation with other team members, clean and prepare chassis and fixtures for painting, using air-powered sandblasting and other tools and equipment per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform paint prep duties using air-powered sandblasting equipment, grinder, needle-guns, and other powered and hand tools.
Abrade surfaces of metal to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, dirt, etc. to prepare for paint application.

Inspects item to be painted for proper welds. Removes weld spatter, over-poured refractory, excess weld, sharp edges, and burrs using a variety of tools including a wire wheel, air chisel, electric grinder, or file.

Mark all mis-welds and any other quality deviations found.

Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and clean equipment using proper solvents and manufacturer prescribed methods.

Operate and/or use related equipment and tools which may include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders
(portable and bench), hand tools, and a tape measure.

Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.

Maintain level of work performance in accordance with Pratt standards and/or job specifications. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Good Attendance is requisite for being able to perform the essential functions of this job.

The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice inconsistencies/faults in parts, equipment, or production processes to prevent faulty products leaving the facility.
Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or GED required.

Relevant and recent working experience in an industrial paint environment preferred.
Expected hours: 50-60 hours per week.

Schedule:

10-hour shift

Monday to Friday 6am-4:30pm

Possible Saturday Mornings 6am-11:30 am
