Our Process for Interviewing:
Our interview process is designed to ensure a mutual fit. It includes:
- Initial Screening: Review of applications, resumes, and predictive index surveys (see below for details).
- Video Interview: If requested, you will record and send us a video of your answers to a variety of questions.
- First Interview: A conversation to understand your skills, experience and core values.
- Second Interview: A deeper dive into your fit with our core values and role specifics. Meet the partners.
- Additional interviews as needed
- Skill Evaluation: We will give you a sample task to complete.
- Final Evaluation: Decision-making and offer presentation.

One Stop Tax Strategists is co-founded by two sisters Tiffany and Melanie, inspired by their father Byron, a CPA with over 40 years of experience. Our company specializes in creative tax planning, preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll for entrepreneurs around the USA. Our client base is made up of about 70% real estate investors, spread across multiple US states. The Best Applicant Will Be:
We are seeking a highly skilled CPA or Enrolled Agent, with a minimum of 5 years of experience (and specific real estate tax experience as bonus), who thrives in a professional, structured, and remote work environment. Start Day/Time:
Soonest is preferred, but we understand if you need to start sometime in August. We are looking for the right person, not the first person.
Role of Posting and Tasks:
Required Qualifications
- EA or CPA
- Minimum 5 years' experience in tax, bookkeeping and payroll.
- Minimum 2 years’ management experience
- Strong project management and workload coordination skills.
- Proficiency with TaxDome, Lacerte, QuickBooks Online, or similar systems.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a tax preparation firm.
- Experience building and improving operational workflows.
- Experience managing KPI-driven teams.
- Supervising remote or offshore teams.
- Real Estate tax experience
Role Structure:
- This is a non-client-facing position.
Position Summary:
- Directly supervise and develop the Offshore Production Team and Junior Tax Accountants.
- Manage the production pipeline, including workload distribution, capacity planning, and deadline management.
- Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with firm standards and procedures.
- Monitor team performance, productivity, quality, and utilization metrics.
- Provide coaching, training, accountability, and performance management for production team members.
- Oversee production systems, workflows, and process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Coordinate with Client Managers, reviewers, and firm leadership to ensure smooth engagement flow and timely delivery.
- Maintain visibility into production capacity, staffing needs, and at-risk engagements, escalating concerns when necessary.
Core Responsibilites:
Production Workflow & Capacity Management
- Receive production-ready engagements from the administrative team.
- Assign tax returns, bookkeeping engagements, and related work to offshore staff based on complexity, due dates, capacity, and skill level.
- Balance workload across the team to maximize efficiency and prevent bottlenecks.
- Monitor the production pipeline to ensure engagements move through each stage on time.
- Reassign and reprioritize work as deadlines, extensions, or urgent requests arise.
- Maintain accurate production statuses and ownership within firm systems.
- Monitor aging work and proactively address stalled engagements.
Team Leadership & Development
- Directly supervise the Offshore Production Team and Junior Tax Accountants.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability standards.
- Monitor productivity, utilization, turnaround times, and quality metrics.
- Provide coaching, training, and ongoing professional development.
- Conduct performance reviews and performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Address performance concerns and recommend disciplinary action or termination when appropriate.
- Identify staffing needs and participate in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous learning, and excellence.
Quality Control & Process Improvement
- Perform first-level quality reviews before work is routed to reviewers or client managers.
- Sign-off on completed tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with firm procedures, checklists, and documentation standards.
- Monitor recurring errors and identify training opportunities.
- Coordinate corrective training and quality initiatives.
- Maintain and improve production workflows, SOPs, and best practices.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Production Reporting & Systems Administration
- Maintain real-time visibility into all production work.
- Track and report production KPIs and team performance metrics.
- Identify and escalate at-risk engagements and capacity concerns.
- Manage production-related system access and permissions.
- Ensure tasks, returns, and workflows are properly maintained within TaxDome, Lacerte, and QuickBooks Online.
- Troubleshoot workflow issues and coordinate resolution of system-related problems.
Systems & Documentation
- Maintain client records in TaxDome, Lacerte, and QuickBooks Online.
- Document client interactions and decisions.
- Update engagement statuses and notes.
- Manage client portal access and document organization.
What this role does NOT do:
- Does not communicate directly with clients.
- Does not manage client onboarding, billing, or engagement administration.
- Does not deliver completed returns to clients.
- Does not perform final tax review.
Compensation:
- Full-time, base salary ranges from $110,000-$130,000.
