Duties
- Accurately record game scores, penalties, player statistics, and other relevant data during hockey matches.
- Operate scorekeeping equipment and technology efficiently to ensure real-time updates.
- Interpret and apply hockey rules consistently to resolve any scoring or rule-related disputes swiftly.
- Collaborate with referees, coaches, and team officials to maintain fair play and uphold safety protocols.
- Assist in setting up and dismantling scorekeeping stations, including manual handling of equipment when necessary.
- Monitor game flow to ensure timely recording of events while maintaining high energy levels throughout the match.
- Support safety procedures by being prepared for emergencies with CPR, AED operation, and first aid knowledge.
Requirements
- Proven experience in sports officiating or scorekeeping, preferably in hockey or similar sports such as soccer, basketball, or baseball.
- Strong understanding of sports rules interpretation and player management in officiating contexts.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and diverse age groups in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to relay information clearly to officials, players, and spectators.
- Physical capability for manual handling tasks including heavy lifting when setting up or dismantling equipment.
- Certifications in CPR, AED operation, and first aid are highly desirable for ensuring safety on-site.
- Knowledge of sports safety protocols, conflict management techniques, and adherence to safety standards is essential.
