Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty equipment, including trucks, fork trucks, semi trailers, and pick up trucks. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, experience with diesel engines, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems using schematics and diagnostic tools. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse machinery in a dynamic environment, ensuring optimal performance and safety of all equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts, and general vehicle servicing.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to repair or fabricate parts as needed.
- Operate and repair heavy equipment including semi, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and pick up trucks.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems and mechanical failures effectively.
- Perform fabrication tasks for custom repairs or modifications on heavy machinery or vehicle components.
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of equipment during repairs or upgrades.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used for each service event.
Skills
- Extensive experience with diesel engine repair and automotive diagnostics.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and other maintenance tools.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in diagnosing complex mechanical issues.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong skills for communicating repair needs and solutions effectively. This position requires a dedicated professional with a passion for maintaining heavy machinery and vehicles to ensure operational efficiency and safety across all equipment types.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
