Con Azucar Café, a vibrant and culturally immersive coffee shop inspired by the rich traditions of Mexico, is now launching a new coffee shop location in the heart of South Loop, Chicago! Join our vibrant café team as a dedicated Barista and become one of the highlights of our customer experience! In this energetic role, you will craft delicious coffee beverages, serve food items with enthusiasm, and deliver exceptional customer service that keeps guests coming back for more. Duties
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee drinks, teas, and specialty beverages with precision and flair
- Handle retail sales transactions efficiently using the Toast POS system
- Provide outstanding customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders accurately, and addressing inquiries promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including food preparation stations, restroom, and seating areas
- Handle retail sales transactions efficiently while maintaining accuracy in cash handling
- Ensure food safety and proper food handling procedures are followed at all times
- Manage cash handling responsibilities accurately, including cash register operations and balancing drawers
- Support food service activities by assisting in food preparation and serving snacks or light meals as needed
Requirements
- Must be 18+ years or older
- Previous barista experience or café experience is highly preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Friendly and outgoing demeanor with strong customer service skills and a positive attitude
- Excellent communication abilities and teamplayer attitude
- Ability to handle retail sales transactions efficiently while maintaining accuracy in cash handling and math skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards, food preparation, and serving protocols
- Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks in a busy environment
