Hair Stylist — Good Hair Salon
Good Hair Salon is looking for a passionate, motivated, and team-oriented Hair Stylist to join our growing salon. This position starts at a base of $25 /hr ($35 /hr with tips) with and increase to $30/hr ($45/hr with tips) for licensed cosmetologists.
We are a natural hair care salon focused on helping clients feel refreshed, confident, and cared for through high-quality hair services, thoughtful client communication, and a welcoming salon experience. Our work includes natural hair care, locs, braids, protective styles, silk presses, retwists, styling, trims, haircuts, and other services that support the full beauty and versatility of textured hair.
We are looking for someone who loves hair, takes pride in their work, and wants to continue learning and growing in a supportive team environment. The right stylist for Good Hair Salon does not need to know everything already, but they should be excited to improve, open to feedback, reliable with clients, and committed to contributing to the overall success of the salon.

A successful Good Hair Salon stylist should be able to communicate well with clients, take direction when needed, ask questions when unsure, and maintain a positive attitude even during busy salon days. Responsibilities include:
- Provide quality hair services based on the client’s scheduled appointment and consultation
- Perform services such as natural hair styling, loc care, retwists, braids, protective styles, shampoo/blow dry services, trims, haircuts, and other services depending on skill level
- Communicate clearly with clients about their desired style, hair needs, pricing, timing, and maintenance
- Help clients understand what services are realistic based on their hair, appointment time, and desired look
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workstation
- Follow salon sanitation and safety standards
- Arrive on time and be prepared for scheduled appointments
- Work respectfully with other stylists, ownership, and salon staff
- Be open to learning new techniques, improving service quality, and receiving feedback
- Contribute to a positive salon culture centered on teamwork, professionalism, and care
- Help support the client experience from start to finish
Qualifications
Required:
- Passion for hair, beauty, and client service
- Willingness to learn, grow, and improve as a stylist
- Strong communication skills
- Reliability, professionalism, and respect for client appointment times
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
Preferred:
- Experience working with textured hair
- Experience with locs, braids, protective styles, natural hair care, silk presses, trims, or haircuts
- Comfort with client consultations
- Interest in continuing education and skill development
- Experience using salon booking systems is helpful, but not required
- Washington State cosmetology license, hair design license, or other applicable license as required for services performed
