Job Overview
The Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the overall success of The Social Cup. This position is responsible for helping oversee daily operations, developing team members, maintaining exceptional guest experiences, and ensuring the café consistently operates in alignment with company standards.
The Assistant Manager works closely with ownership and management to support staffing, training, scheduling, inventory management, operational execution, and financial accountability. This individual serves as a leader, coach, and culture-builder who helps create an environment where guests feel welcome and team members can thrive.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, motivate, and support team members while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees
- Coach employees on hospitality, beverage quality, operational standards, and performance expectations
- Provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities to team members
- Support employee accountability through consistent enforcement of company policies and procedures
- Assist in managing employee performance and addressing workplace concerns
- Serve as Manager-on-Duty during assigned shifts and provide leadership when ownership is not present
Guest Experience & Community Engagement
- Ensure every guest receives exceptional service and hospitality
- Create and maintain a welcoming atmosphere that reflects The Social Cup's mission and values
- Handle customer concerns professionally and effectively
- Build relationships with regular guests and support community engagement initiatives
- Monitor service standards and continuously identify opportunities to improve the customer experience
Operational Management
- Oversee daily café operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality
- Support scheduling and labor management to align staffing levels with business needs
- Ensure completion of opening, closing, and shift management procedures
- Monitor workflow and service execution during peak business periods
- Assist with development and implementation of operational processes and procedures
- Maintain compliance with company standards, health regulations, and safety requirements
Inventory & Financial Responsibilities
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stock organization
- Monitor product usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and control costs
- Support cash management procedures, deposits, drawer accountability, and POS operations
- Assist with tracking labor, inventory, and operational performance metrics
- Ensure accurate documentation and recordkeeping as required
Beverage, Food Quality & Brand Standards
- Maintain and enforce standards for beverage quality, food preparation, presentation, and consistency
- Ensure all team members follow recipes, procedures, and service standards
- Support menu launches, promotions, and product training initiatives
- Monitor café appearance and ensure brand standards are consistently upheld
Cleaning, Maintenance & Facility Management
- Ensure the café remains clean, organized, safe, and welcoming at all times
- Oversee completion of cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate maintenance needs
- Ensure compliance with health department regulations and food safety standards
- Assist with facility inspections, preventative maintenance, and operational readiness
Qualifications
- Previous café, coffee shop, restaurant, hospitality, or retail management experience preferred
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required
- Strong hospitality mindset and passion for customer service
- Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with scheduling, inventory management, and operational oversight preferred
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic business reporting preferred
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Dependable, professional, and self-motivated
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift and carry supplies up to company-required limits
- Perform repetitive hand and arm motions related to beverage preparation and cleaning
- Bend, reach, stoop, and perform general cleaning duties
- Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining operational excellence

Pay: $35,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
