Job Summary/Overall Objectives
The Imaging Aide is responsible for completion of clerical duties, facilitates office workflow, and assists the customers of the Imaging Dept.
Essential Job Functions
- Greeting and assisting all customers.
- Provides direction to customers when needed.
- Answers the telephone using proper telephone etiquette.
- Assists with distribution of patient preps and screenings.
- Places courtesy calls to patients when needed.
- Prepares all correspondence for physician offices and other institutions.
- Prepares and obtains necessary release forms.
- Burns DVD’s/Sends images electronically when applicable.
- Faxes/mails reports when appropriate.
- Assists physicians and other staff with HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
- Communicates STAT results to physician offices following department guidelines.
- Facilitates internal communication with various departments.
- Delivers and retrieves requests from technologist/radiologist office/reading room/work area.
- Delivers imaging department mail.
- Directs phone calls to appropriate location.
- Maintains workstation in optimum condition.
- Assure adequate office supplies are maintained.
- Reports any necessary malfunctions to supervisor.
- Implements downtime procedures when necessary.
- Assists in rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.
- Initiates established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.
- Assists in patient care functions.
- Escorts patients to and from x-ray/scan rooms.
- Assists technologist in moving patient to and from various modalities/offices.
- Tends to patient and family comfort needs.
- Obtains medical history related to the testing being performed
- Complete studies in RIS when needed
- Assists in the preparation of exam/sub waiting room.
- Stocks linen when needed.
- Attends department meetings or reviews meeting minutes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Required Qualifications/Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
- Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
- Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.
- Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Previous experience in healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
- Act 33 Clearance
- Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system
- Act 73- FBI Clearance
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Incumbents will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
