Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Coding Specialist/Billing Clerk to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Codes all diagnoses/ procedures in accordance to ICD-10 coding principles and Coding Manual.
- Ensure accurate electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes using various billing software and EMR/EHR systems.
- Prepare and submit health insurance claims to third-party payers, verifying coverage details and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Conduct thorough medical record reviews to support accurate coding, billing, and documentation of services rendered.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies, follow up on unpaid claims, and facilitate timely collections.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical coding guidelines, health insurance policies, and revenue cycle management best practices.
- Assist in training team members on new coding procedures or updates in medical terminology, ICD coding standards, or billing software.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding with proficiency in ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG assignment, and medical terminology.
- Strong understanding of medical billing processes, health insurance claim processing, and third-party billing workflows.
- Knowledge of medical records management, revenue cycle management, and health insurance policies.
- Ability to interpret medical documentation accurately following current coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting involving medical office operations or medical collection activities is preferred.
