Environmental Services Technician (Janitorial)
Reports to Security Manager
Job Type: Full-time, Hourly
Work Location: CMC Birmingham Dental, West End, and Ensley
Purpose: The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within clinic facilities. This role ensures all patient care areas, offices, and common spaces meet established cleanliness and infection control standards to support high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of patient exam rooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areas
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces in accordance with infection control guidelines
Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and hand sanitizer
Properly dispose of trash, biohazard waste, and recyclable materials following safety protocols
Maintain cleaning equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns
Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and compliance standards (OSHA, HIPAA as applicable)
Assist with deep cleaning and special projects as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or environmental services experience preferred (especially in healthcare settings)
Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures
Strong attention to detail and reliability
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25–50 lbs
Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods
Comfortable working in a healthcare environment
