Duties
- Educate patients about the refractive surgery process, including potential risks and benefits, using clear medical terminology and physiology knowledge to foster understanding.
- Manage post-operative follow-up appointments, monitor healing progress, and address patient questions or concerns promptly to promote optimal outcomes.
- Maintain detailed medical records adhering to HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of all patient information.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, processing payments using retail math skills, and managing clinic flow efficiently.
Skills
- Strong patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically across diverse populations including pediatrics when applicable.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic; experience with medical coding and billing is a plus.
- Knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and vision correction procedures.
- Experience with optical equipment and understanding of aseptic techniques necessary for surgical settings.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
- Retail sales experience beneficial for managing retail aspects of clinic operations such as product recommendations or eyewear sales.
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and handle administrative tasks efficiently in a busy clinic environment.
