Full-Time Day Porter – Apartment Building

Job Summary
Jidan Cleaning is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Full-Time Day Porter to support daily cleaning and upkeep at an apartment building in the Trenton, NJ area. This position plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, guests, staff, and visitors.
The ideal candidate is dependable, professional, able to work independently, and takes pride in keeping common areas clean and well-maintained throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of building common areas, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, stairwells, leasing office areas, and shared spaces.
- Clean and restock restrooms as needed.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and spot clean floors throughout the shift.
- Empty trash and replace liners in common areas.
- Clean glass doors, entryways, and high-touch surfaces.
- Wipe down surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and common area touchpoints.
- Monitor and clean laundry rooms, mailrooms, trash rooms, and amenity spaces as assigned.
- Pick up debris around interior and exterior common areas as needed.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, supply needs, or unusual activity to management.
- Assist with maintaining a neat and organized janitor closet and cleaning supplies.
- Follow all building-specific cleaning standards, safety procedures, and security requirements.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with residents, property staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
- Prior commercial cleaning, janitorial, or day porter experience preferred.
- Experience working in apartment buildings, multifamily communities, or commercial properties is a plus.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work the assigned schedule consistently.
- Ability to work independently and stay on task throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
- Professional attitude and respectful communication.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds when needed.
Expectations
As a Day Porter, you are expected to help maintain the building throughout the day, not just complete one-time cleaning tasks. This includes checking common areas regularly, responding to cleaning needs as they come up, and keeping the property looking presentable during active business hours.
Because this is a resident-facing environment, professionalism is very important. You may come into contact with residents, property staff, vendors, and visitors while working. A respectful attitude, neat appearance, and good communication are required.

Pay: $15.92 - $16.00 per hour
