Overview
The Registered Dietician is responsible for assuring that quality and nutritional services are provided on a daily basis. Project a positive public image through professional conduct and communication while maintaining confidentiality where appropriate.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
- Develop menus for all residents assessing preference and nutritional needs
- Visit residents at time of admission to gather information on diet history, food preferences, and other relevant data.
- Ensure charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive
- Provide food census for cooks and demonstrate knowledge of and ensure food preparation and serving compliance according to state and federal standards.
- Act as a liaison between dietary and nursing staff and interact with other disciplines involved in providing community of care for all residents.
- Practice standard safety precautions and infection control services.
- Monitor dietary services to ensure all residents’ dietary needs are being net.
- Make weekly inspections of all dietary functions to ensure the quality control measures are continually met.
- Have full knowledge of residents’ rights and ensure that dietary staff comply with residents’ rights.
- Assist with inventory
- Ensure staff education is provided to dietary personnel in accordance with staff education plan.
- Attend in-service training and education as needed
- Perform other work duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Registered Dieticians required.
· Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
· Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors and subordinates.
· Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service and understand requests.
