POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Lead is responsible for overseeing daily outbound warehouse operations, coordinating shipping activities, and providing leadership to warehouse team members. This role ensures accurate and timely shipment of finished goods, efficient inventory movement, and compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. The Warehouse Lead supports continuous improvement initiatives and promotes a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
- Outbound Shipping & Warehouse Operations
- Coordinate and oversee daily outbound shipping activities to ensure customer orders are processed accurately and shipped on schedule.
- Plan, stage, and prioritize outbound loads based on customer requirements, production schedules, and delivery timelines.
- Manage trailer loading activities for customer shipments, city deliveries, and inter-warehouse transfers.
- Verify product quantities, labels, and documentation prior to shipment to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with truck drivers regarding loading instructions, shipping priorities, and delivery requirements.
- Support order picking activities and ensure finished goods are staged correctly for shipment.
- Monitor warehouse workflow to maximize efficiency and minimize shipping delays.
SAP & Inventory Management
- Utilize SAP systems to process outbound deliveries, inventory movements, transfers, and shipping transactions.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by completing SAP transactions for product movements and adjustments.
- Use RF scanners to confirm picking, staging, loading, and inventory transactions.
- Investigate and resolve SAP discrepancies, scanning errors, and inventory variances.
- Ensure all shipping transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Generate and maintain shipping documentation through SAP and other warehouse systems.
Forklift Operation & Material Handling
- Operate counterbalance and reach forklifts to safely move finished goods, raw materials, and production supplies.
- Transfer materials between warehouse, production, molding, and printing departments.
- Load and unload trailers while ensuring proper handling and secure placement of products.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report any safety concerns or maintenance issues.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of inventory within warehouse locations.
Leadership & Team Supervision
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to forklift operators and warehouse team members.
- Assign manpower and prioritize tasks to support daily shipping requirements.
- Ensure team members follow safety procedures, quality standards, and company policies.
- Support employee training and development to improve operational performance.
- Address performance concerns and promote teamwork within the department.
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company health and safety procedures.
- Conduct workplace inspections and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, process improvements, and waste reduction.
- Ensure outbound shipments meet customer quality expectations.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Educational Requirements: High School Diploma required; post-secondary education preferred.
Minimum Experience/Field: Minimum 2 years of warehouse experience, preferably in a lead or supervisory capacity with experience in outbound shipping operations.
Licenses/Permits Required: Valid forklift license with experience operating counterbalance and reach trucks.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, drivers, and internal departments.
Additional Education/Experience/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of outbound shipping processes and warehouse operations.
- SAP experience with inventory management, shipping transactions, and warehouse processes.
- Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices preferred.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and workplace safety regulations.
