Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols
- Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies
- Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care and safety
- Educate patients on oral health practices while addressing their questions with clear dental terminology
- Support the dental reception team by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and updating medical records in patient management software like Epic or similar platforms
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current licensure in accordance with state regulations
- Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings, with familiarity in dental assisting procedures
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental equipment operation
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar software for medical documentation and records management
- Experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control standards, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention practices
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with the dental team and provide outstanding patient care
