Janitorial Attendant — Full Time
$16.00 – $18.00 per hour, depending on experience · 42.5 hours per week · New Buffalo area
Trust Contracting Solutions LLC is building a team of janitorial attendants to service public facilities in southwest Michigan. We are looking for people who take pride in a building being clean, who show up when they say they will, and who can work well on their own.
This is a hands-on job in a busy public facility. It is not an office cleaning route where you come in after everyone leaves. You are on site while the public is there, and the condition of the building is visible to everyone who walks in.
What you will do
Restrooms are the heart of the job. You will do a full cleaning and disinfecting of the restrooms at the start of your shift, then check and restock them several times through the day — restocking supplies, wiping surfaces, clearing spills and keeping the floors safe and dry.
Beyond that, you will keep the lobby and entrances clean, wash the public windows and doors, empty and reline the trash and recycling, sweep and mop, vacuum the mats, and keep the office, kitchen and storage areas tidy. You will pick up litter on the grounds and around the parking area. In winter you will shovel and sweep the snow and ice from the walks and doorways and put down deicer. You will handle small fixes as they come up — tightening a loose partition screw, plunging a toilet — and report anything bigger to the site supervisor.
You will also keep simple daily records: a condition report on what you found, and notes on anything that needs attention.
The schedule
Five days a week, 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Days off are Tuesday and Wednesday, so the schedule includes weekends. Additional hours are required around Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day, when the facility is at its busiest. Overtime is paid at time and a half.
What we are looking for
You do not need previous janitorial experience. We will train you on the equipment, the chemicals and the routine. What we cannot train is reliability, and this is a site where one person is responsible for the whole building — if you do not come in, nobody covers it.
You should be able to:
- Be on time, every scheduled day
- Work independently without someone standing over you
- Stay on your feet for a full shift, and bend, reach, kneel and lift up to 40 pounds
- Work safely around cleaning chemicals after training
- Handle restroom cleaning in a high-traffic facility without it bothering you
- Work outdoors in winter conditions for short periods
- Read and follow written cleaning procedures and complete simple daily forms
You must be at least 18, legally authorized to work in the United States, and able to pass a criminal background check, which is required for this work.
Reliable transportation is essential. The site is not on a bus line.
What we offer
$16.00 to $18.00 an hour depending on your experience, paid overtime, a consistent schedule you can plan your life around, and steady year-round work rather than seasonal hours. You will be trained properly and given the equipment and supplies to do the job right.
We are a growing company. The people who do this job well are the people we promote when we take on more sites.
How to apply
Apply through Indeed with a short note about your work history and your availability. No résumé is required — tell us where you have worked, what you did, and when you can start. We read every application and respond to everyone we interview.
