Work Days & Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:45 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (later if deemed necessary by Lead MA) Lunch is from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Summary
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of healthcare and patient care management under the supervision of the Lead Medical Assistant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned:
- Greet patients by name and maintain a pleasant and professional work attitude.
- Show patients to Examination Rooms and prepare them for the provider to examine and treat.
- Obtain and accurately record patient’s reason for visit and medical history.
- Review current patient information to ensure the medical record is complete, up to date and accurate.
- Obtain information such as biopsy and test results, update in medical record, and make available to provider.
- Assist provider as they examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials and setting up for biopsies and injections.
- Record and diagram all procedures done.
- Manage documentation and photographs generated during patient examination and treatment.
- Set up for surgeries, laser and cosmetic treatments.
- Assist with all procedures done by providers.
- Perform tasks such as doing wound checks, giving injections, removing sutures and notifying patient of biopsy results.
- Record in the patient’s medical record all interactions, including telephone conversations, with patients.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider.
- Collect tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, and provider’s instructions to patients.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Change dressings on wounds.
- Maintain knowledge of policies and practices of CFDA, including all procedures, therapies and treatments offered.
- Photographing patients of cosmetic procedures as needed.
- Work as a team with other medical assistants and administrative personnel to ensure safe and efficient patient care and adhere to office procedures and policies (e.g. HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
