THE POSITION

As an Electrical Trade Instructor for the Department of Corrections, you will inspire learning and support positive change. This role gives you the chance to teach practical electrical skills in a structured and supportive setting. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on providing classroom and hands-on instruction in the electrical trade while maintaining order and supporting daily work activities. As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Classroom Instruction: Deliver electrical trade lessons and guide learning through structured teaching methods
- Hands-On Training: Lead on-the-job training that involves electrical installation, repair, and maintenance tasks
- Work Crew Oversight: Direct inmate work crews and inspect completed assignments for accuracy and safety
- Material Management: Issue, track, and monitor tools and materials used during training and work assignments
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed documentation of training progress, attendance, and work activities
- Safety Enforcement: Ensure safe practices and maintain discipline during all training and work activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,868.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

Legal Requirement:
You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
