Job Title: Director of Business Management

Provide strategic leadership, oversight, and management of the district’s business operations, financial systems, and human resources functions to ensure organizational effectiveness, fiscal responsibility, legal compliance, and alignment with district goals. This role ensures that operational systems support student achievement, staff success, and long-term district sustainability.
Education/Certification
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field (preferred)

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred)
Certification in school business management, HR, or finance (preferred)

Experience
Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in education, business, finance, HR, or operations

- Experience in School Finance
Experience in public sector or education environment preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting principles, payroll, purchasing, and audit processes

Understanding of HR law, employment practices, and personnel management

Serve as a key member of the superintendent’s cabinet to support strategic planning and district decision-making.

Develop and implement systems that improve operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness.

Ensure alignment of business and HR practices with district goals, policies, and legal requirements.

Provide leadership that promotes a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Oversee preparation and administration of the district budget.

Monitor revenues, expenditures, and financial forecasts.

Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

Coordinate annual audit processes and corrective action plans if needed.

Supervise accounting, payroll, purchasing, and financial reporting functions.

- Supervise business office and staff and related departments as assigned.
Establish internal controls and procedures to safeguard district assets.

Ensure efficient management of contracts, procurement, risk management, and insurance.

Collaborate with campus and district leaders to align resources with instructional priorities.

Ensure compliance with all financial, employment, and regulatory requirements.

Prepare reports for the superintendent, board of trustees, and regulatory agencies.

Maintain policies and procedures consistent with current laws and best practices.

Directly supervises assigned directors, coordinators, and department staff. Responsible for evaluation, coaching, and professional growth of supervised personnel.
