Direct Care staff :
QUALIFICATIONS:
21 years of age, Experience preferred
High school diploma or a G.E.D.
And if possible: Bilingual
Overview:

Skills:
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities is essential.
- Proficiency in child care and medication administration is highly desirable.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on empathy and respect for individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes a safe, structured, and comfortable environment for children
Orients new children
Knowing where children are at all times
Supervises children at all times in accordance with their level of need for supervision
Praises and reward children's appropriate behavior and redirects inappropriate behavior as indicated in the children’s management plans
Intervening as necessary to keep children safe
Provides training to children on personal hygiene, grooming, chores, and laundry
Participates in the service planning for children and follows the instructions in the plan
Conducts group discussions (e.g. activity planning, problem solving) with children as directed by the DCS Supervisor, Program Director and Clinical Director
Communicates with the DCS Supervisor, Program Director, and/or the Clinical Director regarding treatment needs and problems of individual children
In the absence of the cook, prepares and serves meals as indicated on the menu plan
Accompanies children on trips away from the New Hope RTC
Interacts with children during active and leisure activities
Maintains written reports as required
Reports serious incidents to Program Director or person in charge in the Director’s absence
Shares with in-coming staff information about children’s activities, problems, progress, etc.
Administers, documents, and stores medications as required
Maintains safe environment and an acceptable level of cleanliness in the residence
Submits work orders for repairs and maintenance to the Program Director
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to ensure holistic care for clients.
Drive clients to appointments or outings as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
