Daybright is currently seeking a Billing Analystto join our Corporate Office. Be part of a team of thought leaders and seasoned benefits and retirement planning professionals.
Position Summary:
The Billing Analyst is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of client invoices, proactive communication with clients regarding billing matters, and support of accounts receivable and collections activities. This role partners closely with internal finance and operating teams to ensure invoices are complete, accurate, and issued on schedule, while also helping manage outstanding receivables and resolve client billing inquiries.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, customer-service focused, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced accounting environment.
Job Responsibilties:
Billing & Invoice Management
- Prepare and process client invoices accurately and in accordance with established billing timelines.
- Review billing data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with client agreements, fee schedules, and internal policies.
- Validate pricing, billing calculations, supporting documentation, and invoice backup prior to issuance.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or missing information before invoices are sent to clients.
- Maintain organized billing records and documentation to support internal review, client inquiries, and audit requests.
Client Communication
- Serve as a professional point of contact for client billing questions, invoice copies, statement requests, and payment status inquiries.
- Coordinate with internal teams to research and resolve billing questions or disputes.
- Maintain a client-service mindset while supporting timely billing and collection objectives.
Accounts Receivable & Cash Application
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and identify past-due balances requiring follow-up.
- Assist with payment application, account reconciliations, unapplied cash research, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
- Support month-end close activities related to billing and accounts receivable.
- Prepare AR schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation as needed.
Collections
- Conduct proactive collection outreach on overdue accounts in a professional and timely manner.
- Document collection activity, client responses, follow-up dates, and escalation items.
- Escalate significant collection risks, disputed balances, or non-responsive accounts to the Controller.
- Support review of delinquent accounts, reserve considerations, and potential write-off recommendations.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Prepare recurring AR aging, billing status, and collection reporting for management review.
- Track billing and collections activity to support visibility into cash flow and receivable trends.
- Identify opportunities to improve invoice accuracy, billing cycle time, collection follow-up, and documentation practices.
- Assist with billing system enhancements, process documentation, and internal control improvements.
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant billing, accounts receivable, or collections experience may be considered.
- 2–5 years of billing, accounts receivable, collections, or related accounting experience.
- Experience preparing client invoices and communicating directly with external clients.
- Experience in a professional services, financial services, benefits administration, consulting, or multi-entity environment preferred.
- Experience with ERP, accounting, or billing systems; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central & QuickBooks experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with ability to work with and manipulate large data sets.
- Understanding of accounts receivable processes, billing controls, reconciliations, and general accounting principles.
- Ability to work with detailed billing and payment data while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience supporting automated billing workflows or billing system implementations preferred.
- Experience preparing AR aging reporting, collections dashboards, or management-level billing metrics preferred.
- Familiarity with contract billing, recurring billing, and revenue support processes preferred.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
