Café Monarch is a nationally recognized fine-dining restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale, known for refined hospitality, elevated cuisine, and an uncompromising commitment to excellence.
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking, and organized Dishwasher to join our culinary team for dinner service. This is an essential position within the restaurant, helping maintain the cleanliness, organization, and efficiency required to support a high-level kitchen and dining operation.
Schedule
This is an evening position, with shifts generally running from approximately 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, depending on the needs of service.
Position Summary
The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining a clean and efficient dish area while ensuring that plates, glassware, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and available when needed.
The ideal candidate works with a strong sense of urgency, takes pride in keeping their workspace organized, and understands the importance of cleanliness and teamwork in a professional kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize plates, glassware, silverware, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dish station throughout the shift.
- Keep clean dishes and equipment properly organized and returned to their designated areas.
- Maintain a steady supply of clean plates, cookware, and utensils for both the culinary and service teams.
- Wash pots, pans, sheet trays, and other kitchen equipment as needed.
- Remove trash, recycling, and waste and maintain clean disposal areas.
- Sweep, mop, and assist with maintaining clean kitchen floors and work areas.
- Follow proper sanitation, chemical-handling, and food-safety procedures.
- Assist with general kitchen cleaning and closing responsibilities.
- Communicate with cooks and other team members to prioritize items needed during service.
- Help maintain organization in storage and back-of-house areas.
- Assist the culinary team with basic kitchen tasks when needed.
- Handle restaurant china, glassware, and equipment carefully to minimize breakage and damage.
- Support a professional, respectful, and team-oriented kitchen environment.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant or commercial dishwashing experience is preferred but not required.
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain productive during busy dinner service.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around heat, steam, water, and commercial cleaning products.
- Food-handler certification required or ability to obtain certification.
- Availability to work evening shifts, generally from approximately 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
